Upcoming Community Events from PhillyRising and Philly311

There’s a lot going on in the community over the next few weeks. Here’s a list of events from PhillyRising and the Philly311 Mobile Squad. Hope to see you there…

2/6– The Mobile Squad will be in the Mayor’s Reception Room as part of an effort to collect feedback from Election Day. This is a public meeting held from 4:30am-7:00pm.

2/6– The Philadelphia Youth Music Program in Point Breeze will be holding fall classes at the Wilson Park Community Recreation Center (2500 Jackson Street) from 4:00pm-7:00pm.  “Learn about the music business and get free music production training, engineering instruction and artist development by music industry icons. This activity is free for young people in the Point Breeze section of South Philadelphia. The program works with young people between the ages of 12 and 17 years old.”

2/7– The Philly311 Mobile Squad will be attending a meeting at the Nationalities Service Center (1100 West Rockland Street) from 10:00am- 11:30am to speak about 311’s services.  This meeting is open to the public. For more information, please call Kathy at 215.683.0868.

2/7– PhillyRising is holding its first Citizen’s Engagement Academy in Kensington at the McPherson Square Library (601 E. Indiana Avenue) from 6:00pm- 7:00pm.

2/7– There will be a job workshop at the RAH Civic Association (St. James School at 32167 Clearfield Street) from 10:00am- 4:00pm.

2/11– Barbara “The Origami Mommy” Pearl will be teaching Origami at the Widener Branch Library (2808 W. Lehigh Avenue) This program is intended for individuals and families of all ages. For more information, please contact the Librarian at 215.685.9798.

2/12– There will be a Block Representative’s meeting held for the 17th Police District (1201 South 20th Street) from 5:30pm- 7:00pm. This is an opportunity for community members to come together to discuss quality of life and crime issues with the Captain of the 17th police district. Other resources and presentations are also made available to residents during this meeting.

2/12– There will be a Central Division Meeting with DA Seth Williams at the Honikman Learning Center (1936 N Judson Street) from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

2/13– PhillyRising will be holding a meeting at the Lawncrest Recreation Center at 6000 Rising Sun Avenue from 7:00pm– 8:30pm. The meeting’s purpose is to share ideas on how to makes the Recreation Center better and more accessible to the community.  All neighborhood residents are invited to be part of this process.
