Upcoming Community Events from Philly311 and PhillyRising

2/13 A community workshop will be held in the 12th Police District at 6448 Woodland Ave for 7:00pm- 8:00pm. New Police Captain John Moroney, Coventry Cares, Sanitation Enforcement and the Philly311 Mobile squad will be in attendance.

2/13 Philadelphia Youth Music Program in Point Breeze will be holding its fall classes at Wilson Park Community Recreation Center 2500 Jackson Street from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Learn about the music business and get free music production training, engineering instruction and artist development by music industry icons. This activity is free for young people between the ages of 12 and 17 in the Point Breeze section of South Philadelphia.

2/13 Lawncrest Recreation Center Advisory Council will be holding a meeting at 6000 Rising Sun Avenue from 7:00pm-8:30pm. This meeting is your chance to learn about what’s going on at Lawncrest Recreation Center and offer your ideas on how we can make it better and more accessible to the community. All neighborhood residents are invited to be part of the Lawncrest Recreation Center Advisory Council!

2/14 The Philly311 Mobile Squad will be administering the Neighborhood Liaison Training to Mamie Nichols Center at 1529 South 22nd Street from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  If you are interested in taking this training call the Community Engagement Coordinator at 215.683.0868

2/14  The Philly311 Mobile Squad will be attending a Healthy Living Active Lifestyles meeting w/ State Rep. Harris at 2308 Snyder Avenue (Yesha Fellowship Hall) from 6:00pm-7:00pm . This event is open to the public

2/15 There will be a Kensington Youth Town Hall Meeting at Mastbaum High School from 12:30pm- 1:30pm.  

2/18 The Mural Arts Guild will be working with the Philly Urban Creators every Monday and Wednesday to assist in building the capacity of the community garden program. Projects will include building greenhouses, painting murals, and building toolsheds. Expertise from the on-staff carpenter will also be provided by the Guild. This event will be held at 11th and Dakota from 10:00am-3:00pm.

2/19 The Lawncrest Community Association will be holding a meeting at the Saint Williams Community Room (Corner of Argyle & Robins) from 7:00pm- 9pm. All neighborhood residents are invited to attend!

2/20 There will be a PhillRising monthly meeting held in St. Hugh’s at the HACE Community Room at 167 West Allegheny Avenue from 6:00pm-7:00pm. This is an opportunity to speak about your ideas for building a stronger, more vibrant neighborhood. We will go over work that was completed since the last meeting and decide on new projects for the future.

2/21 The Philly311 Mobile Squad will be attending the monthly Mantua Civic Association meeting at Grace Lutheran Church (36th and Haverford Avenue) from 7:00pm- 8:30pm.  This is meeting is open to the public.

2/21 The Philly311 Mobile Squad will be attending the Philadelphia NW EPIC Stakeholder next meeting at 211 Eastburn Avenue 1:00pm- 2:30pm. 

2/21 There will be a “Let’s Step up Our Game and Be Ready” workshop held at the Panati Recreation Center (22nd and Clearfield Street) from 10:00am-4:00pm. This workshop will help North Philadelphians prepare for new jobs.

2/21 The Philly311 Mobile Squad will be attending the monthly meeting for Garden Court Community at 4725 Chestnut Street from 6:30pm- 8:30pm.

2/23 The Zoo Crew will be holding an event at Widener Branch Library (2808 W. Lehigh Ave) from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Join the Zoo Crew Teens from the Philadelphia Zoo at the Widener Branch. You will learn about orangutans, their connection to palm oil, and what we can do to help protect these magnificent and endangered creatures. As an added attraction, a special Zoo Animal Ambassador will join the fun.
