PHOTO ESSAY: Scenes from the Second Annual MDO Awards

On March 13, 2013, the Managing Director’s Office held its second annual MDO awards in the Mayor’s Reception Room. These awards presented an opportunity for Managing Director Rich Negrin to honor the hard work and accomplishments of the MDO departments and staff over the past year.

And what a year it’s been. Through 2012, Fleet’s Robert Otterson and Daniel Rosa created a repair for the Impala police car so innovative that General Motors adopted it; OIT’s Ray Hayling updated the public safety radio system 5 months ahead of schedule; Philly311 launched a mobile app; the Human Resources Benefits Team strategically saved the City over $41 million; Chief Data Officer Mark Headd began the implementation of the Mayor’s Executive Order on Open Data and Government Transparency, leading to a catalog of data releases, civic apps and hackathons.

Above is just a sample of everything the MDO offices, departments, programs and individuals have accomplished. Here’s  a look at this year’s MDO award winners:

Mayor Nutter also attended the awards to congratulate the MDO staff.
